"Transformations in the Global South"
At the conference “Transformations in the Global South” in May 2015, academics were brought together who worked on the dynamics of the key thematic research areas – migration and citizenship/labour; commodity chains and changing markets; communicative repertoires. In two round table discussions, three keynote presentations and eight plenary sessions, it was aimed to define the current state of the art, to critically discuss concepts, methods and theories, and to explore future research directions. The conference addressed issues such as current struggles over urban green spaces, shifting patterns of immigration policies, economic challenges and changing communication practices. A particular focus rested on theories, observations and perspectives from the South.
